London Day Out 2

Today we had a other field trip around London. We explored different sites of landscape projects again with different scales and design approaches. The walk was pretty good, we went our London most busy tourist attraction sites such as Russel Square, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and etc and saw how the landscape was desiged and used by the public.

Kew Gardens

Today we visited Kew Gardens also known as for been The Royal Botanical Gardens. I have visited Kew Gardens many times in my educational years of studying from primary school to university. Visiting from primary school you don't realise the importance of Kew Gardens and why it is relevant to anything you do, apart from running around and climbing on things around the surrounding. But growing up and realising few things, you understand the reasons of things you do and why you do them.

The last time I visited Kew Gardens was when I was in college doing my final self project. Which was based on nature and nature forms. Kew Gardens was an great inspirational place to gather ideas and design forms for my final outcome of design.

And then visiting again at university and having a tour spokesman about the garden, gave me more insight of the garden and how things are approached within the garden and designed and why is place so important.

It was a pretty cold day for the visit. Not much was going on around the place as it was not the season for anything interesting to happen, apart from the green houses, which felt like heaven going into from the cold outside. Felt like two different worlds.

Importance of Kew Gardens (website for more information)

Kew's work in conservation is grounded in fundamental research aimed at understanding the huge variety of plants and fungi on earth. The research that gets carried out provides essential information for species identity and habitat assessments and also the research underpins on sustainable uses, climate change and bio-diversity.
